Mezotix (pronounced mez-otick) is a non-ablative fractional skin rejuvenation system. In English please James? Whilst some heat-based therapies used to rejuvenate the skin can leave the skin extremely uncomfortable and sightly, Mezotix targets a selected percentage of only the deeper layers of the skin to preserve the surrounding tissues, which limits both discomfort and downtime.
Mezotix is our go-to treatment for areas commonly associated with signs of ageing, such as the eyes, forehead, mouth, neck and décolleté. Mezotix therefore also works well on reducing the signs of scarring as a result of acne and other skin traumas.
Pregnancy
Melasma
Some medications (including oral isotretinoin, warfarin, antibiotics, blood-thinners and long-term aspirin use)
Active cold sores in the treatment area
Inability to take downtime
The heat transferred into the skin during the treatment stimulates new proteins in the skin, such ascollagen and elastin, to improve the density and texture of the skin.
Surprisingly comfortable. Mezotix is an extremely quick treatment allowing us to get in and out without too much discomfort. The treatment feels like a series of quick zaps of heat to the treatment area which stops upon the completion of the treatment.
Precare:
If you are prone to cold sores, we recommend using an over-the-counter prophylactic to reduce the risk of pre-treatment breakout.
Aftercare:
Take it easy on your skin for five days, or until any reactions have subsided. Use a gentle cleanser morning and night, along with a moisturiser or your prescribed post-treatment product. As always, you should avoid direct sunlight, and wear a high SPF sunscreen and hat whenever outdoors.
Some mild to medium swelling to the treatment area may be experienced for up to 8 hours posttreatment with accompanying heat for a few hours. Expect around five to seven days of downtime with dry, rough skin and slight reddening to the treatment area, including some mild scabbing. Mild shedding may occur and, on occasion, some of the small scabs may fall off during cleansing which can bleed temporarily.
We recommend three to four treatments atfour-tosix-week intervals, followed by a review. Treatment number and intervals will be reviewed by your clinician based on your unique concerns.
