Pico Fx uses Cuteraâs Enlighten picosecond technology to safely and effectively reduce and remove signs of hyperpigmentation, including freckles, sun spots and melasma, in addition to targeting signs of ageing such as scarring, fine lines, skin texture and visible pores.
Scarring, textural issues, skin discolourations, including melasma, and ageing. Pico Fx is suitable for all skin types, including darker skin tones, looking to target these concerns swiftly with accompanying downtime.
Pregnancy
Oral isotretinoin
Inability to take downtime
PicoFx works by emitting ultra-short fractionated laser energy to create small, gentle micro-wounds in the upper layer of the skin to induce the production of new proteins in the skin, such as collagen and elastin.
Sensations range from a mild âelectric rainâ feeling on the face to a more intense, hot âsnappingâ feeling, however, this will dissipate within minutes.
Precare: If you are prone to cold sores, we recommend using an over-the-counter prophylactic to reduce the risk of post-treatment breakout.
Aftercare: Take it easy on your skin for five days, or until any reactions have subsided. Use a gentle cleanser morning and night, along with a moisturiser or your prescribed post-treatment product. As always, you should avoid direct sunlight, and wear a high SPF sunscreen and hat whenever outdoors.
Most clients experience moderate to severe reddening of the skin, also known as petechiae, immediately following PicoFx. These effects may be temporary or persist for up to 5â7 days. During this period, any treated sun spots or freckles will darken and then dissipate over time.
On occasion, a mild to severe histamine response, including itching and bumps, can be experienced which will again resolve after the downtime period and can be eased with an over-the-counter antihistamine tablet such as Polaramine.
To improve specific concerns, we recommend three appointments at six-week intervals, followed by a review. Regular maintenance is recommended as pigment can return, especially in the case of melasma. Treatment number and intervals will be reviewed by your clinician based on your unique concerns.
